Bleary, rainy, blossoming, budding

Pictures from this morning:

Wet

Grey

But look at all those buds! I guess it's not so bad...

Double fail this morning

(On the small scale.)

1. I brought my camera on my walk to the metro so I could show the internet just how bleary and grey and damp it is here, but left my camera case at home because it takes up extra space in my bag... but my camera case has the connector cable, so now I have to wait until tonight to upload the pics at which point I will be so over the bleariness and the dampness and the pictures of water droplets on budding twigs.

Oh, and for the record, it did occur to me to check if my work computer had an SD-card reader (it does), but it turns out that my camera is old and has an XD card, not an SD card. Boo.

2. I totally forgot to bring the leftover fried noodles from last night. Damnit. Buying my lunch for the FOURTH time this week. Maybe pizza? For the third time this week?

Win for this morning: Pandora is playing me "Unpretty" by TLC. Thank you, Pandora.

Daisy Mae

Today I found a blog from the point of view from a dog, which sounds a lot like poetry from the point of view of a child, except that she's a dog not a kid so she talks about stalking squirrels and talking to chipmunks and stuff.

I am tempted to do similar, except I don't think Raleigh has many thoughts besides "food," "mom, my belly is right here please rub it" "couch, please," "frisbeefrisbeeohmygodfrisbeethrowit," and similar.

A bit of midday humor

me: shea, i think you can put that off a little longer
Shea Garrison-Kimmel: yeah, you're right. i don't need to procrastinate until at least next week
me: seriously
why do it now when you could do it later?

Dear Ella, I love you

(These are all stolen blatantly from Facebook.)

R4L.

However, I would like to point out that this is why the USA sucks:

Do not want.

We just had a baby shower for a coworker. I do not want that. I do not want that. I do not want that. (To be repeated until it becomes true.)

A list of lists

I bought a Moleskine to keep lists in. It's one of the little ones, 3 x 5" or so. I like that it's small, and I like the soft cover, and I like that it's sewn binding and that I can understand exactly how it was constructed, and I like that I can keep track of all my thoughts; not just to-do lists and stuff like that, but random lists of things that occupy my mind. This way I can maybe lay them to rest. Like how sometimes when you have a song stuck in your head you just have to listen to it and then after that you can stop thinking about it. Anyway, these are the lists I've started since I got it two days ago:

  • To Do
  • Books (to read)
  • Music (to get)
  • Movies (to watch)
  • DC (to do)
  • Creativity (cures to antsiness)
  • Twice Monthly Giving
  • Target (to buy, early March)
  • Things I Would Rather Do Than Be At Work

Because spring is coming, I am a bit distracted (part 2)

Oh my goodness, I just remembered about reading in a hammock in the sunshine (that isn't yet 90 degrees + 90% humidity).

Also, I am getting that spring time urge for a ROAD TRIP. Windows down, zooming past trees and fields, with the kind of music that pushes you forward. And an ice coffee. And some chips.

(Hey guess what, universe! Tomorrow is my unbirthday. I'd like Junot Diaz's Drown. I'll consider it a step toward repairing the breach of trust that occurred when you invented mosquitoes. I mean, honestly.)

Now that I have all this money

Should I:
a) continue to give a lump sum to a different organization with each paycheck, which forces me to think about what I value most and seek information about organizations that work on issues I value, or
b) pick several organizations to set up for monthly automatic donations, which would be more beneficial for the organizations (and if Tommy would send me those talking points already, I could give you some key reasons why) but would take all the thinking out of it for me.

Aand, this is why I've told hardly anyone about this blog. This is such a first world problem that I almost want to tell myself to shut the fuck up. But it is something I'm considering.
